EXCLUSIVE: Far-Left George Soros-Backed Media Matters Claims to Be a Nonprofit But Acts Like a Biased Far-Left Hit Machine

 Joe Hoft
April 13, 2022

Media Matters is a far-left organization that labels itself as a non-profit but works as a far-left hit machine.  It has connections to George Soros and its purpose appears to be to harm conservative Americans and take them out of business.   But there is much more to this sketchy entity.

In 2019 Forbes discussed the various distinctions between non-profits:

The United States Internal Revenue Code (IRS) states that nonprofits are generally referred to as “501(c)” organizations. There are more than 30 types of nonprofits under that code that qualify for exemption of some form from federal income taxes. The two most basic types are 501(c)(3) charitable organizations and 501(c)(4) social welfare organizations. There are key distinctions between the two types of entities.

• The 501(c)(3) nonprofits (also known as “charitable organizations”) are what we often think of. They are the charities those in need reach out to for help, and the public supports them with tax-deductible donations.

These 501(c)(3) nonprofits are prohibited from “participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office.”

• The 501(c)(4) organizations account for social welfare, civic leagues and local associations. These organizations promote community welfare, education, charitable or recreational goals.

Since the Supreme Court’s Citizens United v. FEC decision, “social welfare” organizations have become a popular means for electoral involvement, often because of the privacy afforded to financial supporters.

Because “social welfare” groups may engage in limited political activity, contributions are not tax-deductible. And while (c)(4) organizations have become a popular method for campaign activity, politics cannot be the entity’s primary purpose.

Impermissible political activity by nonprofits carries risk on multiple levels. Not only could an entity’s tax-exempt status be jeopardized, but conduct that constitutes an impermissible campaign contribution may carry civil and criminal liability.

Per the regulation, in addition to what’s noted above the following also applies:

On the other hand, voter education or registration activities with evidence of bias that (a) would favor one candidate over another; (b) oppose a candidate in some manner; or (c) have the effect of favoring a candidate or group of candidates, will constitute prohibited participation or intervention.

The first obvious question mark about Media Matters is that according to Media Bias Fact Check Media Matters is a 501(c)(3) with a ‘high-rated far-left bias’.  Aren’t these same biases non-compliant with the regulation for non-profit status?

Media Matters is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization funded through donations and sponsors. According to Sourcewatch, they are funded by wealthy liberals. According to the right-leaning Influence Watch, “Media Matters was founded with $2 million in funding from wealthy progressives funneled through the Tides Foundation with additional funding from MoveOn.org and the New Democrat Network. The left-of-center donor group known as Democracy Alliance endorsed the group in 2004, resulting in donations. In 2010, George Soros gave the group $1 million. MMA has also received substantial funding from labor unions, most notably the National Education Association (NEA).” Finally, they are affiliated with the American Bridge 21st Century Super PAC.

In 2021 the IRS was notified of actions by Media Matters that were outside of the IRS code.  The Federalist reported:

The Iowa-based conservative watchdog group Patriots Foundation filed a new complaint with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Monday against Media Matters for America (MMFA) arguing the tax-exempt group has violated its agency agreement with illegal electioneering.

undefined

Founded in 2004, the leftist non-profit was given 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status under IRS code which prohibits explicit campaign activity on behalf of any candidate or candidate’s party. In a supplemental complaint added to an existing referral over last year’s election, however, the Patriots Foundation argues the group’s interference in the California recall race violates IRS terms for tax exemption.

According to the article, Media Matters was also called out in 2016 with its bias toward the Hillary campaign.  Check out MediaMatters.org any time at any day and look for non-biased reporting in any of the articles that it presents.  You’ll be very lucky if you find any non-biased reports at all.

The second most obvious question about Media Matters is why is it that this firm that spends all day long monitoring and critically assessing conservative politicians and entities, can not timely file its tax returns with authorities.  Media Matters is behind in filing its tax returns with many states.

Per a review of New York’s charities database, Media Matters for America hasn’t filed its tax return with the state since the 2019 year-end.

The third item of contention with Media Matters is that it filed for and received COVID-19 funds through PPP loans.

Although COVID probably had no effect on its business and might have even helped it, Media Matters applied for and received $1.2 million from the US government.  We learned from this that if there is money available, Media Matters – the nonprofit – is going for it.

However, according to the SBA, nonprofits are not eligible to qualify for a PPP loans.

Charitable, religious, or other non-profit or eleemosynary institutions, government-owned corporations, consumer and marketing cooperatives, and churches and organizations promoting religious objectives are not eligible.

There is much more to this obviously biased entity that claims to be a non-biased nonprofit and that benefits from tax benefits that only non-profits receive.  Much more.

REPORT: George Soros Is Funding Over A Dozen Democrats Running In 2022

Mike LaChance
April 9, 2022

The far-left billionaire George Soros is reportedly funding multiple Democrat candidates who are running for office this year.

This is especially important for voters to be aware of this year.

In recent elections, multiple district attorneys were elected with help from Soros and it has had an awful effect on crime and law enforcement in the country.

Breitbart News reports:

Report: George Soros Funds 13 Radical Democrats Running for Congress in 2022

Billionaire Democrat megadonor George Soros and his daughter are reportedly funding 13 radical Democrats running for Congress in 2022.

Soros and his daughter, Andrea Soros Colombel, are funding candidates that are in favor of defunding the police, such as Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO), according to Fox News.

Some Democrats have attempted to distance themselves from defunding police, but radical Democrats backed by Soros continue to push the Democrat issue.

“We should all agree the answer is not to defund the police; it’s to fund the police,” President Biden controversially stated during the State of the Union…

The following are some of the 13 candidates funded by Soros through a joint fundraising venture called Lead the Way 2022, including the Way to Lead PAC, according to Fox News:

– Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) – $40,000
– Candidate Rana Abdelhamid (New York’s 12th) – $28,000
– Candidate Kina Collins (Illinois’s 7th) – $28,000
– Candidate Odessa Kelly (Tennessee’s 7th) – $41,000
– Candidate Aramis Ayala (Florida’s 10th) – $1.4 million

The money represents a small amount of the funding Soros has dedicated toward the 2022 midterms.

Soros has reportedly fueled Democrats with $125 million through a super PAC heading into the November midterms.

Any candidate associated with Soros should be automatically rejected. Instantly.

Candidates associated with him are part of the major problems we’re having as a country right now.

Biden’s Secretary of State Blinken has Family Ties with George Soros

Joe Hoft
March 28, 2022

Biden’s Secretary of State Tony Blinken has ties to George Soros through his parents.  Now Blinken is being brought before an international court for his actions with Albania.

Secretary of State Tony Blinken is a total disaster.  His actions in Afghanistan to turn over the protection of US troops in the country to the Taliban and hand over $84 billion in arms and military equipment and airplanes was the worst surrender in US history.  It is the worst because it wasn’t necessary.  It was a total disaster.

Now we are expecting a horrible deal with Iran worked out by Blinken that could be even worse.  The worst deal in US history is coming perhaps this week.

The Southern border is a mess.  The US is getting itself into a mess in Ukraine thanks to Blinken.   How could Blinken be so terrible?  The reason is that it appears intentional.  There really is no other explanation.

We recently discovered information on what may help explain Blinken’s actons… his parents are close to George Soros.

President Trump’s former Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy, Richard Grenell, penned an article in November of 2021 that was published by the ACLJ.  This story begins with a tweet from Blinken.

There was no reason for this act by Blinken.  Also, Berisha is known as a man who stood up against communism in the former communist country.  Berisha fought back.

It turns out Blinken’s parents are supporters of George Soros’s Open Society.  Grenell writes:

Berisha has slammed the actions by the State Department as the work of radical Left billionaire George Soros and his Open Society, an organization that claims to promote transparency and human rights in the Balkans. The ACLJ and our international affiliate, the European Centre for Law and Justice (ECLJ), have been exposing Soros’s outsized, radical – and what some might call corrupt – influence on the world stage.

Berisha’s claims regarding Secretary Blinken and Soros should not be dismissed so quickly. The U.S. Secretary of State’s parents, Vera and Donald Blinken, have repeatedly donated to Open Society, even creating a permanent endowment at a European-based data archive that carries their name – The Vera and Donald Blinken Open Society Archives.

Congressman Lee Zeldin (NY-1), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, recently confronted Secretary Blinken on his sudden sanctioning of Berisha. Secretary Blinken conveyed little confidence when asked for justification, stating “I don’t have anything to share.” While Blinken offered platitudes of follow-up for the Committee, no such information, or evidence, has been submitted. The circle-back saga continues.

At present, the only evidence we know of is Berisha’s staunch opposition to Soros’s political interference, which Mr. Berisha has decried as circumventing the rule of law and informal influence over the entire Balkans region. Mr. Berisha himself in 2017 called on major governments to investigate Soros’s role in regional politics and went so far as to encourage others to declare Soros “non-grata.”

Secretary Blinken now faces a new challenge to his authority in the form of international courts. Last week, the Correctional Tribunal of Paris announced that it would hear Berisha and his claim that Blinken has defamed his reputation by declaring him persona non-grata.

And Berisha has a point. These U.S. travel sanctions that Blinken has used against Berisha are typically a move reserved for some of the world’s most blatant, evidence-backed violations of international norms and human rights, including that of the likes of Russian oligarchs. Yet Berisha has been a friend to the U.S. and has even been hosted by both Presidents Bush.

We’ll see what happens from this.  What is sure is that Blinken is a total disaster unless your parents are close to George Soros and you want to destroy the US.

Russia Accuses Hunter Biden, CDC and George Soros Foundation of Funding Pentagon’s Biological Program in Ukraine

Jim Hoft
March 24, 2022

Hunter Biden’s firm Rosemont Seneca provided capital for the firms behind the creation of Biolabs in Ukraine.

The Gateway Pundit broke this news earlier this month.

The US State Department admitted there were dangerous US-funded Biolabs in Ukraine during senate testimony earlier this month. Then on Wednesday the Biden regime backtracked and insisted there were no US-funded Biolabs in Ukraine.

Why the sudden confusing messaging from the Biden gang?  Especially when there are documents that prove the US was funding several of the Biolabs they set up in Ukraine to study potentially dangerous pathogens.

It may be because Hunter Biden’s firm Rosemont Seneca was funding the firms involved in the building of these labs in Ukraine and they felt this was not something they wanted the American people to know.

InfoWars put together an excellent article with connections between Hunter Biden and the firm Metabiota, which was involved in the creation of Biolabs in Ukraine.

The Gateway Pundit identified through the Wayback Machine that Rosemont Seneca provided capital (invested in) Metabiota as noted on the firm’s website back in 2014.

It is listed as “Our Team’s Investments” on the Rosemont Senaca webpage.

We also located a number of documents from the Wayback Machine (meaning they have been since deleted off the Internet) that show the Department of Defense investing in the creation of Biolabs in Ukraine with the help of firm Black & Veatch.

Here is a sample of one of the documents located.  (We’ve located nearly a dozen of these documents.)

Metabiota publicized its relationship with Black & Veach in 2018:

Today, Metabiota, the pioneer in epidemic risk modeling, announced it has been awarded a subcontract from Black & Veatch (B&V) to support the U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s (DTRA) Cooperative Biological Engagement Program (CBEP) in Iraq under the Biological Threat Reduction Integrating Contract (BTRIC). Metabiota has also partnered with B&V on DTRA’s recently awarded Cooperative Threat Reduction Integrating Contract (CTRIC) III with an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contract ceiling of $970M.

Now this…

Russian media on Thursday also accused Hunter Biden of funding the Ukrainian biolabs.  The Russians have connected Hunter and the funding of the Ukrainian biolabs.

Insider Paper reported:

Russia said on Thursday that the Rosemont Seneca investment fund, led by Hunter Biden, the son of US President Joe Biden, is funding the Pentagon’s military biological programme in Ukraine, The Telegraph reported.

US President Joe Biden must explain his son Hunter’s involvement in the operation of biological laboratories in Ukraine, Russia’s State Duma speaker, Vyacheslav Volodin, said on Thursday on his Telegram channel, TASS reported.

“The incoming materials allow us to trace the scheme of interaction between US government agencies and Ukrainian biological objects. Attention is drawn to the involvement in the financing of these activities of structures close to the current US leadership, in particular the Rosemont Seneca investment fund, which is headed by Hunter Biden,” said Lt General Igor Kirillov, head of the radiation, chemical and biological defence forces of the Russian Armed Forces.

The Pentagon programme is also financially supported by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the George Soros Foundation, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Kirillov said.

Kirillov claimed that one of the scientific curators of the Pentagon’s military biological programme in Ukraine was the Los Alamos nuclear centre, which developed the first American atomic bomb.

REVEALED: Matt Schlapp’s CPAC Took Six-Figure ‘Social Action’ Donation from Soros-Linked ‘Dark Money’ Network

Raheem J. Kassam
March 8th, 2022

The American Conservative Union (ACU) – which hosts the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) – took a six-figure donation from a leading left-wing fund for the purposes of “civil rights, social action, advocacy,” according to the fund’s financial records dated 2020, The National Pulse can exclusively reveal.

The New Venture Fund, whose mission statement revolves around “Race, Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion Commitment,” issued a cash grant of $183,250 to the ACU, run by Matt and Mercedes Schlapp, in 2020. The fund is known for its work supporting anti-Trump, anti-conservative initiatives.

The ACU refused to comment when approached by The National Pulse. The full 990 can be read here.

The New Venture Fund was started in 2006 and ungirds much of the political left’s activities in America today. It’s President, Lee Bodner, is a former managing director of Arabella Advisors, which even the Atlantic magazine described as a “Massive Progressive Dark-Money Group” which has targeted former President Donald Trump, his administration officials, as well as issuing over a billion dollars a year to left-wing groups and astro-turfed political operations. Bodner is also described as building “strategic partnerships with nonprofits, including the Clinton Foundation”.

PROGRESSIVE DARK MONEY NETWORK

In 2019 the Capital Research Center revealed these left-wing funds are indeed all part of the same network “operating under the aegis of ‘philanthropy.’ Their work concluded: “…this network is housed in and staffed by a for-profit, privately held consultancy called Arabella Advisors, LLC.* Arabella manages four nonprofit entities—the New Venture FundSixteen Thirty FundWindward Fundand Hopewell Fund—each of which shares an address and interlocking officers with Arabella.”

“Arabella’s network often plays host to highly influential groups on the Left. For example, the Democracy Alliance, a network of donors co-founded by billionaire George Soros, has used the New Venture Fund and Sixteen Thirty Fund to host at least eight projects that don’t disclose their original funders”

– Hayden Ludwig, Capital Research Center

The news of Schlapp’s Soros-linked cash comes as the eight-year-long ACU Chairman went to bat for transgender swimmer Lia Thomas. Thomas has dominated against biological female competitors, despite being born a man. Schlapp took to Twitter late Monday night to insist: “No matter what one thinks of Lia’s ability to swim with women her story deserves our compassion. It will be interesting to hear Lia’s pov in 30 years.”

Schlapp was soon taken to task by conservative commentators such as Jenna Ellis, former attorney for President Trump as well as The Blaze’s Allie Stuckey.

The National Pulse can also reveal that in recent months, the American Conservative Union pulled from its website a letter sent to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) criticizing them for their pro-transgender sports position. The letter was originally widely circulated, but hurriedly pulled down a few months later. It is still available via the Wayback Machine, here.

The letter appears to have been pulled down at roughly the same time Schlapp promoted communications staff Regina Bratton, who called Joe Biden “our last hope” against Donald Trump, and insulted the former President’s intelligence. Bratton has lauded political activists such as Alyssa Milano, the Lincoln Project, Liz Cheney, Meghan McCain, Mitt Romney, The Daily Show, Joy Reid, Amy Klobuchar, and others.

CPAC’S WEBSITE NOW HIDES THEIR NCAA LETTER.

Schlapp – a former White House Director for Political Affairs under President George W. Bush – has come under a mountain of criticism in recent years for turning the once-lauded CPAC into a playing field his political family and their finances. Multiple sources have revealed to The National Pulse they now believe the event to be a “pay for play” scenario, wherein the largest donors and sponsors receive stage-time over the conservative movement’s best and brightest.

Schlapp himself seemed to confirm the matter in his tweets to Jenna Ellis on the matter of transgenderism. Instead of addressing the point, Schlapp callously fired back: “Jenna this is a false controversy. You are upset w @CPAC bc we didn’t invite you to speak.”

In the immediate aftermath of January 6th, Schlapp appeared on Fox News to state that veteran Ashli Babbitt – who he misidentified as a 16-year-old – “maybe deserved to be shot”.

“I understand there’s a 16-year-old young woman who was shot. Now maybe she was doing terrible things and deserved to be shot,” Schlapp said. “We’re the party that talks about law and order and respecting cops.”

The ACU failed to respond to multiple comment requests from The National Pulse, dated Feb 23rd and March 8th.

Liberal Megadonor Soros Pumps $125 Million into Super Pac to Help Democrats in 2022 Midterms

Sophie Mann
January 28th, 2022

Billionaire megadonor George Soros has poured $125 million into a super PAC this election cycle, with the money already being distributed to political action committees backing Democrat candidates and causes.

Soros has used the super PAC, known as Democracy PAC, since 2019 to support political campaigns.

He says the group’s money will support “causes and candidates, regardless of political party” committed to “strengthening the infrastructure of American democracy: voting rights and civic participation, civil rights and liberties and the rule of law,” Politico reports.

However, the money is so far going to Democrat-leaning groups, including $2.5 million to Senate Majority PAC, $1 million to the House Majority PAC, and $1 million to the Democratic Association of Secretaries of State, a group fighting to elect Democrats to the formerly obscure posts that became a well-known and heavily politicized after the 2020 election, according to Politico.

Soros calls his $125 million a “long-term investment” to continue supporting politicians and campaigns past 2022.

Soros’ son, Alexander Soros, will serve as the president of the PAC. He has cited the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot as an example of the “ongoing efforts to discredit and undermine our electoral process.” He also argues such threats “cannot be addressed in just one or two election cycles.”

Following its filing with the Federal Elections Commission, Democracy PAC’s spending will be posted publicly in the coming days.

Amid Violent Crime Wave, Permissive, Soros-funded Prosecutors under Fire Nationwide

Aaron Kliegman
January 26, 2022

Across the country, left-wing district attorneys funded by progressive megadonor George Soros are facing severe backlash, including efforts to oust them from office, for pushing soft-on-crime policies during a nationwide surge in violent crime and, in some cases, allegedly engaging in prosecutorial misconduct.

Soros, 91, has spent the last several years injecting tens of millions of dollars into local district attorney races throughout the country, backing progressive candidates who support policies such as abolishing bail, defunding the police, and decriminalizing or deprioritizing certain offenses.

From 2015 to 2019, for example, Soros spent more than $17 million on local DA races, according to the Capital Research Center. That figure has likely risen in the past couple years, experts say.

In 2020, the Foundation to Promote Open Society, a grantmaking foundation in Soros’s network, gave $3 million to the Community Resource Hub for Safety and Accountability, which provides resources to activists and organizations “working to address the harm of policing in the U.S.”

Soros has provided much of the cash through his network of nonprofits to political action committees controlled by attorney Whitney Tymas, the New York Post reported.

Tymas has suggested local prosecutors shouldn’t just enforce the law but also work to revolutionize the criminal justice system.

“If we are to reach a place of true progress, it will take the sustained efforts of local elected prosecutors across the country to rectify and reimagine their role in the criminal legal system — not just as gatekeepers, but as active catalysts for change,” she wrote in a 2020 op-ed.

Soros’s money has helped elect several such “catalysts for change” across the country. However, many of these progressive DAs now find themselves in political — and, in some cases, legal — trouble after implementing controversial policies which, critics say, have contributed to the current violent crime wave devastating U.S. cities.

St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner is one of the first prosecutors who Soros bankrolled in 2016 — and again for her reelection in 2020.

Next month, Gardner is set to appear before a disciplinary hearing, where she will face charges of ethics violations stemming from her office’s 2018 prosecution of former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens.

Last year, Missouri’s chief legal disciplinary officer accused Gardner of rampant misconduct in the prosecution, saying she lied to judges in court filings and testimony, withheld exculpatory evidence from the defense, misled her own prosecution team, and violated the constitutional right to a fair trial.

Gardner has denied all wrongdoing, saying she complied with state law. She could have her law license revoked if the charges against her are upheld.

During Gardner’s tenure, crime has skyrocketed in St. Louis, with the city experiencing near-record murder rates. Even last year was among one of the city’s deadliest in decades, despite murders being down from 2020.

Amid high homicide figures, Gardner has declined more cases and issued fewer arrest warrants, charging fewer felonies and prosecuting thousands of fewer cases overall than her predecessor as a result. She has also deferred prison sentences for misdemeanors and nonviolent felonies as part of her reform initiatives.

Gardner says this is part of her “platform to reduce the number of cases unnecessarily charged in order to focus on the more difficult cases for trial.”

Her campaign website boasts that she’s “made jail and prison a last resort, reserved for those who pose a true public safety risk,” while limiting “the arrest and detention of people accused of misdemeanors and low-level felonies.”

Last year, Gardner came under fire after three murder cases under her purview were dismissed in one week due to prosecutors in her office not showing up for hearings or being unprepared.

Gardner is one of several big-name DAs backed by Soros who have struggled with high turnover in their offices. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the effect of the turnover in Gardner’s office has been “a state of dysfunction, low morale, and dearth of legal wisdom necessary to safeguard the public from potentially dangerous criminals.”

Beyond Gardner, Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner is another Soros-funded prosecutor currently under intense scrutiny.

Soros spent almost $1.7 million through the Philadelphia Justice and Public Safety PAC to help Krasner in 2017, pouring more than five times as much money into the race as Krasner himself.

Now, Pennsylvania Senate President Pro Tempore Jake Corman is urging state leaders to consider impeachment proceedings against Krasner, who’s been in office since 2018.

Corman blames Krasner for the recent spike in violent crime across Philadelphia, arguing the DA’s policies have allowed criminals to thrive.

Krasner didn’t address the substance of Corman’s accusations in his response, instead criticizing the senator for playing politics.

Philadelphia ended 2021 with an all-time record of 559 homicides, far surpassing the total of any prior year since city leaders began tracking killings in 1960. So far this year, murders are outpacing last year’s figures.

During his tenure, Krasner has cut the future years of incarceration by half and slashed the length of parole in probation supervision by nearly two-thirds compared to the previous DA. He has also made a priority of not prosecuting people who are illegally in possession of guns unless they hurt or kill people.

Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw was previously quoted as saying Philadelphia’s criminal justice system has become a “revolving door” for repeat gun offenders since Krasner became DA. Outlaw said last year that she and Krasner “don’t agree” on which crimes to prioritize and prosecute.

Last March, the Democratic City Committee voted not to endorse Krasner for the upcoming primary election, but Krasner won anyway.

Moving to the West Coast, Soros spent more than $2 million to elect Los Angeles County DA George Gascon in 2020.

Since then, multiple recall efforts have been launched to oust Gascon from office due to rising crime rates. The most recent one was launched last month.

As of September, at least 31 cities in Los Angeles County issued a vote of no confidence in Gascon, condemning his controversial policies.

A recent wave of package thefts from freight trains passing through downtown Los Angeles has put the spotlight on Gascon, whom railroad giant Union Pacific blames for the thefts. Los Angeles has also faced a surge in robberies, while homicides soared last year to their highest level in over a decade.

A growing number of bipartisan voices are pointing the finger at Gascon, who has eliminated cash bail in most cases and sought to put more convicted criminals in rehabilitation rather than prison.

Gascon isn’t the only Soros-backed DA in California facing backlash. San Francisco DA Chesa Boudin, whose parents were members of the Weather Underground domestic terrorist group, won his election with the help of Soros’s financial network.

This week, a 69-year-old Asian-American man who was violently attacked in 2019 said he’s suing Boudin, accusing the prosecutor of mishandling the case against his alleged assailants. The announcement of the lawsuit came one day after the San Francisco Police Department revealed there was a 527% increase in anti-Asian hate crimes in the city in 2021 compared with the previous year.

Boudin has said he wants to abolish cash bail and end “mass incarceration.” During his time in office, San Francisco has experienced a wave of robberies, looting, and burglaries similar to Los Angeles. According to one study, San Francisco is more dangerous than 98% of U.S. cities, according to Lee Ohanian of the Hoover Institution. By comparison, Compton, Calif., which is notorious for gang violence, is more dangerous than 90% of cites and considered safer in terms of crime rate.

The situation has caused progressive Mayor London Breed to intervene and call for police to be more aggressive, saying the crime wave “has destroyed” San Francisco.

“It’s time the reign of criminals who are destroying our city, it is time for it to come to an end,” she said. “And it comes to an end when we take the steps to be more aggressive with law enforcement. More aggressive with the changes in our policies and less tolerant of all the bulls**t that has destroyed our city.”

In the Midwest, Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx was elected in 2016 with the help of Soros’s funding and reelected in 2020 with $2 million more from the billionaire.

Foxx has come under intense scrutiny for her office’s dismissal of all charges in the original indictment against actor Jussie Smollett in 2019, three weeks after a grand jury had issued it. Smollett was convicted last month of staging a hate crime.

According to a recent investigation, Foxx lied to the public about cutting off communications with Smollett’s sister when she was told the actor had become a suspect. Foxx is now being investigated for potential ethics violations in her handling of the case.

Chicago, a city infamous for shootings, has experienced a surge in violent crime since Foxx became state’s attorney of Cook County. In 2021, there were more murders than in any year since 1994.

During her first three years in office, Foxx dropped all charges against 29.9% of felony defendants, a major increase from her predecessor, who only dropped 19.4%, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Staying in the Midwest, another Soros-backed prosecutor who’s come under the gun is Milwaukee DA John Chisholm.

Chisholm conceded in November that he had set an “inappropriately low” bail amount earlier that month when Darrell Edward Brooks Jr., whom police arrested for attacking a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisc., was arrested for domestic abuse and eluding police.

Chisholm has received widespread blowback for his handling of the Brooks case. His office recommended $1,000 bail for Brooks following his prior arrest on Nov. 5 on charges that he punched his girlfriend in the face and hit her with his vehicle. Brooks was also charged with evading police officers when they tried to take him into custody.

Brooks posted bail on Nov. 11 and, days later, allegedly drove his vehicle into the Christmas parade, killing six people and injuring dozens of others.

Chisholm, who was elected in 2007, supports deferrals for some misdemeanors and “low-level” felonies in order to decrease incarcerations. He claims he inspired the current wave of progressive prosecutors who are pursuing similar policies.

The Soros Dozen: Big City Prosecutors Backed by George Soros

JOEL B. POLLAK
January 20th, 2022

Left-wing billionaire and Democrat donor George Soros has turned his attention in recent years to local races for prosecutor, using his money to elect “progressives” who push “criminal justice reform” and support the Black Lives Matter movement.

The rise of these Soros-backed prosecutors has coincided with a massive surge in murder and crime in many Democrat-run cities, including many where these prosecutors have implemented radical policies toward policing and incarceration.

Most recently, for example, Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón has faced criticism for his radical reforms in the year since he took office, while murders soared. “The city last year experienced 397 murders, up 11.8 percent from the 355 the previous year, and a 53.9 percent increase from the 258 in the pre-pandemic year of 2019,” Los Angeles magazine noted.

These murders included the shooting death of Jacqueline Avant, a black philanthropist and the wife of legendary music producer Clarence Avant, who was killed during a robbery in her home. Gascón blamed the “system” for her death.

More recently, a young woman, Brianna Kupfer, was stabbed to death in broad daylight in the furniture store where she worked. Her alleged killer was out on bail for a 2020 arrest in Los Angeles and a 2019 arrest in South Carolina. Her father blamed politicians who had let criminals roam free — a growing sentiment in cities where Soros-backed prosecutors rule.

Many of the candidates Soros has backed have received support, directly or indirectly, from a network of groups with names like “Justice & Public Safety PAC.” The Influence Watch website describes Soros’s organizations as the “‘Safety and Justice’ network, a project of left-leaning billionaire George Soros that used a network of similarly named state-level PACs to finance the campaigns of progressive Democratic candidates for district attorney in more than a dozen of America’s cities.”

Soros-backed prosecutors include:

Supported by Soros through spending by political action committees (PACs) and super PACs:

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón – Elected in 2020, he ousted incumbent D.A. Jackie Lacey, the first black woman to hold the job, and has prided himself on reducing prison sentences, even as violent crime has soared in L.A.

(Chicago) Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx – Foxx became notorious for her intervention in the Jussie Smollett case, dropping charges against the actor for a hate crime hoax. (Smollett was later convicted.) Chicago hit 800 homicides in 2021.

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner – Soros supported Krasner with nearly $1.7 million in spending in 2017, more than five times as much as Kranser spent himself. Philadelphia set a new record for homicides in 2021, with 562 in total.

(Houston) Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg – Ogg is considered one of the more moderate of Soros’s prosecutors, and had to overcome opposition from even more left-wing prosecutors in 2020. Houston’s homicide rate rose 71% in 2021.

Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot – Cruezot dropped prosecutions for thefts of “personal items” valued at less than $750, among other radical reforms, and was reduced to reminding residents that theft was still against the law.

(San Antonio) Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales – Gonzales has been described as “one of Soros’s favorite DAs,” presiding over a stunning 52% increase in homicides in San Antonio since 2019, though violent crime was down overall.

(Phoenix) Maricopa County District Attorney Paul Penzone – Soros spent millions to defeat Joe Arpaio and support Penzone, who gained national attention in 2020 when he resisted efforts by Republicans to audit the ballots in the 2020 election.

St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner – Gardner has faced ethical complaints over the prosecution of former Governor Eric Greitens, as well as that of Mark and Patricia McCloskey. She was kicked off the latter prosecution after using it to fundraise.

(East San Francisco Bay Area) Contra Costa County District Attorney Diana Becton – Becton famously charged a couple with a “hate crime” for painting over a “Black Lives Matter” mural that was painted on a public road in Martinez, California.

Supported by Soros indirectly:

(New York) Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg – Bragg was elected with help from the Color of Change PAC, to which Soros donated $1 million. He has banned pre-trial incarceration and prison for all but homicide and a few other cases.

Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby – Mosby, one of the original “Black Lives Matter” prosecutors, reportedly took a trip abroad sponsored by a Soros-backed group. She was recently indicted on federal charges of mortgage fraud and perjury.

(Orlando) Ninth Judicial Circuit State Attorney Monque Worrell – Worrell succeeded Soros-backed Aramis Ayala, whom Gov. Ron DeSantis kicked off a murder case for declining to seek charges in a murder because she opposed the death penalty.

A further list of Soros-backed prosecutors, current through 2019, is available through Influence Watch. These include prosecutors such as Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney Buta Biberaj – Biberaj came under scrutiny after a parent was arrested for speaking out at a school board meeting against district policies after his daughter was sexually assaulted. Another list is available through the Capital Research Center, including descriptions of Soros-backed prosecutors’ records.

Not every left-wing prosecutor is directly backed by Soros. San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin was not backed by Soros — but he received $100,000 from a PAC controlled by Soros-backed George Gascón to fight a recall election effort.

In 2018, the Los Angeles Times reported that Soros had funded at least 21 local prosecutorial campaigns, though it noted that the full extent of his influence on such races was unknown, because some of his contributions flowed to non-profit organizations and “dark money” groups rather than directly to campaigns. He has continued and expanded his role since.

Manhattan’s Soros-Funded DA Lays Foundation For Next Crime Wave; Instructs DAs To Drop Prison Sentences

Manhattan’s newly elected DA, Alvin Bragg, has ordered prosecutors to stop seeking prison sentences for most offenses and to downgrade felony charges in cases that include armed robberies and drug dealing, according to the New York Post.

In his first memo to staff on Monday, Alvin Bragg said his office “will not seek a carceral sentence” except with homicides and a handful of other cases, including domestic violence felonies, some sex crimes and public corruption. -NY Post

“This rule may be excepted only in extraordinary circumstances based on a holistic analysis of the facts, criminal history, victim’s input (particularly in cases of violence or trauma), and any other information available,” reads Bragg’s memo.

According to Bragg, whose campaign was funded in part with a $1 million donation from billionaire George Soros, also told assistant DAs that they must now keep in mind the “impacts of incarceration,” including whether it actually increases public safety (ZH: to keep violent criminals physically separated from the public? Uh, yeah…)

When prosecutors want to put a convict behind bars, they can’t ask for more than 20 years for a ‘determinate’ sentence – i.e. one which can’t be reviewed or changed by a parole board, according to the report.

What’s more, “The Office shall not seek a sentence of life without parole,” which according to state law is a punishment reserved for the worst offenders; murderers, terrorists, serial killers, cop killers, and people who kill children under the age of 14 during sex crimes or torture.

Bragg’s memo also detailed the following instructions for prosecutors to reduce charges filed by cops in various cases:

  • Armed robbers who use guns or other deadly weapons to stick up stores and other businesses will be prosecuted only for petty larceny, a misdemeanor, provided no victims were seriously injured and there’s no “genuine risk of physical harm” to anyone. Armed robbery, a class B felony, would typically be punishable by a maximum of 25 years in prison, while petty larceny subjects offenders to up to 364 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
  • Convicted criminals caught with weapons other than guns will have those felony charges downgraded to misdemeanors unless they’re also charged with more serious offenses. Criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a class D felony, is punishable by up to 7 years behind bars.
  • Burglars who steal from residential storage areas, parts of homes that aren’t “accessible to a living area” and businesses located in mixed-use buildings will be prosecuted for a low-level class D felony that only covers break-ins instead of for more serious crimes. Those more serious crimes, class B and class C felonies, would be punishable by up to 25 and up to 15 years in prison respectively.
  • Drug dealers believed to be “acting as a low-level agent of a seller” will be prosecuted only for misdemeanor possession. Also, suspected dealers will only be prosecuted on felony charges if they’re also accused of more serious crimes or are actually caught in the act of selling drugs. That felony would mean facing up to seven years behind bars.

According to Bragg’s memo, “ADAs should use their judgment and experience to evaluate the person arrested, and identify people: who suffer from mental illness; who are unhoused; who commit crimes of poverty; or who suffer from substance use disorders,” while “Charges should be brought consistent with the goal of providing services to such individuals, and leverage during plea negotiations should not be a factor in this decision.”

Bragg claims the changes will “not only will, in and of themselves, make us safer; they also will free up prosecutorial resources to focus on violent crime.”

What’s more, “new initiatives and policies on guns, sex crimes, hate crimes, and other matters will be announced in the coming weeks.”

The head of the NYPD Detectives’ Endowment Association, Paul GiGiacomo, came out swinging against Bragg’s memo.

“Bragg gives criminals the roadmap to freedom from prosecution and control of our streets,” he said, adding “In Bragg’s Manhattan, you can resist arrest, deal drugs, obstruct arrests, and even carry a gun and get away with it.

Meanwhile, the head of the NYPD’s largest union expressed “serious concerns about the message these types of policies send to both police officers and criminals on the street.”

“Police officers don’t want to be sent out to enforce laws that the district attorneys won’t prosecute,” said Police Benevolent Association president Patrick Lynch. “And there are already too many people who believe that they can commit crimes, resist arrest, interfere with police officers and face zero consequences.

Soros Reveals How He’s Invested Amid “Fed Liquidity Bubble”; Says Trump “Very Dangerous”

Staff Writer,
August 13th, 2020

Billionaire financier and political puppeteer George Soros says he’s no longer invested in financial markets – admitting to Italy’s La Repubblica that we’re caught in a bubble fueled by Fed liquidity, and that ever since he shared his methodology in his book, “Alchemy of Finance,” he no longer has an advantage.

Soros explained that “two simple propositions” drove his investment strategy, according to MarketWatch.

“One is that in situations that have thinking participants the participants’ view of the world is always incomplete and distorted. That is fallibility,” he said, adding “The other is that these distorted views can influence the situation to which they relate and distorted views lead to inappropriate actions. That is reflexivity.”

He went on to say the market, which he no longer participates in, is sustained by the expectation of more fiscal stimulus along with hopes Trump will announce a vaccine before November. –MarketWatch

“We are in a crisis, the worst crisis in my lifetime since the Second World War. I would describe it as a revolutionary moment when the range of possibilities is much greater than in normal times. What is inconceivable in normal times becomes not only possible but actually happens. People are disoriented and scared. They do things that are bad for them and for the world,” he told the outlet.

Turning his attention to politics and the pandemic, Soros – who’s contributed $52 million towards political spending during the 2020 election cycle, said that the United States is better positioned to weather COVID-19, but President Trump “remains very dangerous” because “he’s fighting for his life and he will do anything to stay in power.

“Even in the United States, a confidence trickster like Trump can be elected president and undermine democracy from within,” he said, adding “But in the U.S. you have a great tradition of checks and balances and established rules. And above all you have the Constitution. So I am confident that Trump will turn out to be a transitory phenomenon, hopefully ending in November.”

In May, Soros claimed that Trump would be a “dictator” without the US Constitution in place, according to Breitbart‘s Josh Caplan. “But he cannot be one because there is a constitution in the United States that people still respect. And it will prevent him from doing certain things. That does not mean that he will not try, because he is literally fighting for his life,” Soros told the Independent.

“I will also say that I have put my faith in Trump to destroy himself, and he has exceeded my wildest expectations.”
