The Deeper Side of Universal Basic Income That’s Not Often Discussed

 Joe Martino
August 29, 2020

The topic of UBI has surfaced again as Germany gets ready to begin a trial with some of its citizens. Is there a deeper question behind UBI that isn’t often spoken about? A question that begins thinking outside of our current ideologies?

When most people think of universal basic income we go through the standard path of questioning: how would it work? How would it be paid for? Are we really losing jobs that fast that we need this? What happens if people don’t contribute to society? Does it create more government dependency? What ‘ism’ does this fall under?

All good questions, but perhaps ones that don’t truly look at some deeper thoughts behind UBI as a result of our current way of living. What do I mean by this? I go back to a statement Andrew Yang made in relation to why he was presenting UBI as part of his US presidential campaign:

“We could get the boot off of everyone’s throats just like that. And we have to do it, because we’re in the midst of this historic transformation of our economy that is pushing more and more of us to the sideline.”

Before we get more into Yang, we did a segment of The Takeaway where we spoke about the deeper side of UBI. You can watch it below. I’ll continue exploring the subject in writing below the video as well.

Essentially, Yang is saying that he feels too many people are struggling to do even the basics, even when they have multiple jobs, and thus they can’t even think about exploring taking a breath, doing something they love or are interested in simply because they are always just trying to survive. Of course, some people will say, “go get educated and get a better job” as if education is the path to money. This is merely an illusion as our current economic system not only MUST create economic classes by design, but there must always be those who struggle. Constant growth is a must, and so companies are driven to do things more inexpensively year after year, replacing human jobs with automated jobs. Innovation is driven by the need to make things cheaper so companies can survive, thus pushing people out of work.

This seems like a ‘bad’ thing as people won’t have money to survive, but when you think about it in another way, we’ve found ways to have innovation take over having to spend our lives working. The only thing holding us back at this point is an outdated economic system that does not align with the technological advancement our minds have created.

UBI brings up a deep question: in people’s hearts, why is this idea attractive to them? What is the potential deeper inspiration?

Sure, you can choose to gawk at and judge people, saying they are ‘lazy’ or ‘commies’, but I challenge you to open your mind and go deeper. Is it possible that what we’re really asking for behind UBI is not so much getting free money, but that we’re tired of our current ways of living? We’re ready to live a life we know is possible, where we can thrive as a society without having to slave 40 hours a week to make ends meet? Perhaps people are feeling that a radical shift in the way we live is possible, but is being held back by our ideologies and systems built out of them. Maybe the discussion of UBI is really pushing us to re-imagine our entire system?

Like I mentioned above, we had this discussion openly in a segment of The Takeaway. The intention is not to go over all the existing studies and literature on the topic, but more so to appeal to a greater sense of engagement asking how YOU feel.

Watch the segment here.

The Metaphysics of Politics & The Manipulation of Human Consciousness

CE founder Joe MartinoDulce Ruby and I have decided to sit down once a week and have a conversation about various topics, sharing our thoughts and how each of us are feeling. In our latest episode we decided to talk about the metaphysics of politics and how it effects our psyche.

All three of us have gone down the rabbit hole when it comes to big politics. For me, I was first introduced to deception within politics through examining various topics, one of the first being ‘false flag terrorism’ as well as the strong connections that governments have with mainstream media outlets. When I came across a declassified document that states that the CIA task force “now has relationships with reporters from every major wire service, newspaper, news weekly, and television network in the nation,” and that “this has helped us turn some ‘intelligence failure’ stories into ‘intelligence success” stories,’” I really started looking into it more and realized this is still happening.

The information I was coming across even corroborated with multiple award winning journalists.

I eventually came to the conclusion that the prime purpose of big politics and big media (which go hand in hand) is simply to manipulate human consciousness and shape our perception of major events which allows these powerful people to justify actions they like to take, usually to gain even more control over the human race. I found out that the ones who propose the solution to global issues are usually the ones creating these problems as well, intentionally in order to justify the actions they like to take under the guise of good will. Julian Assange exposed much of this, along with other war crimes and immoral/unethical actions of governments and big corporations. Why is he in jail facing 175 years?

In the second half of the episode we talk about genetically modified mosquitoes, because the US Environmental Protection Agency just approved the release of nearly one billion GM mosquitoes in Florida and Texas. To access the second part, you can sign up for your free trial at CETV. It’s a platform we created to allow us to continue doing our work. As a result of a massive amount of censorship and demonetization from social media platforms and Google, its the only way we can try to stay alive and do what we do. Thank you for your support!

Discussion About Dr. Fauci Telling People To Wear Goggles To Protect Against COVID-19

July 31st, 2020

JoeRuby and I recently sat down for our weekly show, “The Takeaway” to discuss Dr. Anthony Fauci’s recent recommendation that all people should be wearing goggles as well as a mask in order to protect themselves against COVID-19. As most of you reading this will know, mask mandates in public settings have caused quite a controversy, especially in Canada and in the United States. Well known and reputable doctors and scientists seem to be the catalyst, having brought a lot of attention to themselves by sharing their expert opinions and research. Today, however, we are living in a very different environment as information that contradicts what’s told to us by our federal health regulatory agencies is now deleted, blocked, and censored from social media platforms and Google searchers.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, based on what I have been seeing and from our own experience here at Collective Evolution, we are living in a time where a digital authoritarian Orwellian fact-checker is patrolling the internet and censoring information, deeming it as “false” when in many cases, the information doesn’t appear to be false at all. Don’t get me wrong, there is plenty of “fake news” out there, but should people not have the right to examine information and determine for themselves what is, and what isn’t instead of having someone else do it for them?

In the episode below we share our opinions and talk about where we see things going within the next few months. It’s a two part episode, in the second part we talk about an interesting document within the CIA’s electronic reading dealing with the affect human intention can have on physical material systems. If you’re interested in that, you can access it on CETV, here.  CETV is a platform we created to combat the censorship we are currently experiencing, as many  of you probably already know of by now.

COVID-19: “For People Younger Than 45, The Infection Fatality Rate is Almost 0%” – Stanford Professor

Arjun Walia
July 10, 2020

  • The Facts: John P. A. Ioannidis, a professor of medicine and epidemiology at Stanford University has said that the infection fatality rate is close to 0 percent for people under the age of 45 years old.
  • Reflect On: Are all of the measures we are being forced to take actually about the virus, or about something else? Why have we never done this for more dangerous respiratory viruses that circle the globe? What’s going on here?

What Happened: John P. A. Ioannidis, a professor of medicine and epidemiology at Stanford University is one of many scientists around the world, and one of several from Stanford University, who has been telling the world that the new coronavirus, so far according to the data, is not as dangerous as it’s being made out to be by mainstream media. For example, earlier on in the pandemic he published an article titled “A fiasco in the making? As the coronavirus pandemic takes hold, we are making decisions without reliable data.“In the article, he argues that there is simply not enough data to make claims about reported case fatality rate. He stated that rates, “like the official 3.4% rate from the World Health Organization, cause horror — and are meaningless.”

This is exactly what these numbers did. In fact, they were the basis and justification for the lockdown.

It turns out he was right. The idea that the infection rate is much larger than previously thought seems to be well accepted and clear in the scientific community, and multiple studies have come out emphasizing the same over the past few months.  Not long ago, several academics from the Stanford School of Medicine, including Ioannidis, suggested that COVID-19 has a similar infection fatality rate as seasonal influenza based on the data they found in their study.

In a recent interview with Greek ReporterIoannidis estimated that about 150-300 million or more people have already been infected by COVID-19 around the world, far more than the 10 million documented cases. He warned that “the draconian lockdowns imposed in many countries may have the opposite effect of what was intended. He told the Greek Reporter that “the lockdown measures have increased the number of people at risk of starvation to 1.1 billion, and they are putting at risk millions of lives.

He isn’t the only world renowned scientist to call these measures “draconian.” You can see another example here. In fact there are many of them, a large majority of whom have been censored by platforms like YouTube and Facebook. Since when are the expert opinions and research of scientists in this field constantly censored simply because they oppose the views of our federal health regulatory agencies and World Health Organization? Why is there a digital authoritarian “fact-checker” patrolling the internet telling people what is and what isn’t?

Not only are people experiencing huge economic impacts, but it’s also having a health impact. A new article published in the British Medical Journal has suggested that quarantine measures in the United Kingdom as a result of the new coronavirus may have already killed more UK seniors than the coronavirus has during the peak of the virus. You can read more about that here.

Here’s what Ioannidis, had to say about the infection fatality rate now that things have progressed further:

0.05% to 1% is a reasonable range for what the data tell us now for the infection fatality rate, with a median of about 0.25%. The death rate in a given country depends a lot on the age-structure, who are the people infected, and how they are managed. For people younger than 45, the infection fatality rate is almost 0%. For 45 to 70, it is probably about 0.05-0.3%. For those above 70, it escalates substantially, to 1% or higher for those over 85. For frail, debilitated elderly people with multiple health problems who are infected in nursing homes, it can go up to 25% during major outbreaks in these facilities.  (source)

The idea that the death rate is far lower than original estimates, and even far lower than what the numbers show now seems to be quite obvious. Even CNN recently acknowledged this, only to state that just because it has a low infection fatality rate doesn’t mean that we should get too comfortable. In other words, keep wearing your mask.

Even the CDC recently announced that they may stop calling COVID-19 an “epidemic” due to the remarkably low death rate. You can read more about that here.

Why This Is Important

This all begs the question, are all of the measures that our federal health regulatory agencies forcing us to adopt actually necessary? Are they even good for us? Is this really about the virus, or are we simply having our perception manipulated by big media and powerful people, just as we have with regards to a number of other topics, like ‘the war on terror,’ for example. Why is there so much information showing that masks, for example, should not really be mandatory?

Why have we taken the measures that we’ve taken for this virus, but don’t do it for all of the other severe respiratory viruses that infect and kill millions of people around the world every single year?

For example, did you know that metapneumovirus has been shown to have worldwide circulation with nearly universal infection by age 5? Did you know that outbreaks of metapneumovirus have been well documented every single year, especially in long term care facilities with mortality rates of up to 50%? (pubmed 18820584) Did you know that human metapneumovirus infection results in a large number of hospitalizations of children every single year? Did you know it has a substantial morbidity rate, again in the elderly, but also among children as well? Did you know nearly 1-2 million children every single year die of these types of respiratory illnesses because they lead to acute respiratory illness? Imagine if the infection rates and death numbers were constantly tracked, and put on an easy to access website, mainstream media, radio etc. Imagine if the other coronaviruses and respiratory illnesses that are more severe in some cases, and arguably more infectious in some cases, were subjected to constant monitoring and beamed out to the population every single minute, could you imagine the hysteria that would be created?

At the end of the day, it seems quite clear that this virus is not as dangerous as it’s being made out to be, and again, based on the data, it doesn’t seem to be any more dangerous than what we’ve already been experiencing for years. So again, it begs the question, what’s really going on here, and why have governments used the coronavirus, as Edward Snowden said, the same way they used 9/11? To push more authoritarian measures on the population without their consent?

The number of controversies surrounding the coronavirus is quite revealing. Even people whose deaths are marked as COVID deaths may not have died as a result of the coronavirus. You can read more about that here. This, along with the high infection rate even drives the infection mortality rate lower.

The Takeaway

Never in history have we experienced such a collective distrust for health authorities that we rely on to provide us with truthful information. As a result, more people are starting to think for themselves instead of believing what they are told. The coronavirus, just like 9/11, is really contributing to another massive shift in consciousness, where even more people become aware of the deceit corruption, as well as the politicization of science that seems to plague our world and waking up to the realization that our world is not how it’s been presented to us, and that our perception of major events always seems to be subjected to high levels of manipulation.

We are the ones that choose the system we live in. We are the ones that continue to play the game every four years and elect a ‘leader.’ All this does is reinforce as a system we no longer want to play with. Is it time to stop giving our power away to others, and begin organizing in another fashion? Is our current political model truly serving us to thrive? If billions of us can together and follow instructions for a global lockdown, imagine what else we could do on a collective level for other important issues…

Expanding Reality Through Consciousness: A Fascinating Interview With A Neurosurgeon

Mario Beauregard, PhD., is a neuroscientist currently affiliated with the Department of Psychology, University of Arizona. He has received a bachelor degree in psychology and a doctorate degree in neuroscience from the University of Montreal. He has also underwent postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Texas Medical School (Houston) and the Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI), McGill University.

Dr. Beauregard is the author of more than 100 publications (articles, essays, book chapters) in neuroscience, psychology, and psychiatry. He was the first neuroscientist to use neuroimaging to investigate the neural underpinnings of voluntary control in relation to emotion. Because of his research into the neuroscience of consciousness, he was selected (2000) by the World Media Net to be one of the “One Hundred Pioneers of the 21st Century.”

In the episode below, Collective Evolution founder Joe Martino and Dr. Beauregard sit down to discuss what transhumanism, AI, near death experiences and our current events have in common, which is consciousness. They all stem from what level of consciousness we are creating these things out of. Joe explores this topic with Dr. Beauregard in a recent episode of The Collective Evolution Show on CETV.

A New Species Of Psychedelic Lichen Found To Contain Psilocybin & DMT

Source Collective Evolution
by Alanna Ketler, October 14, 2016

Lichens are of particular interest to biologists because of their symbiotic relationship between algae and fungi. The fungus creates the network that sustains, hydrates, and protects the algae, which in turn generates the sugars necessary to feed it through photosynthesis. While they both exhibit plant-like characteristics, neither are actually plants — they are composite organisms. This makes the psychedelic lichen even more intriguing.

Scientists have been speculating about this particular lichen for some time. Rigorous testing is needed before researchers can claim anything as fact, however, making anecdotal evidence simply insufficient. And so despite reports from a local tribe about its hallucinogenic qualities, researchers could not positively affirm the lichen to be so, although psilocybin is known to be a psychedelic compound.

How Was This Species of Lichen Discovered?

In 1981, enthobotanists Jim Yost and Wade Davis were doing some fieldwork in the dense rainforests of Ecuador when a local tribe, the Waorani, directed them to the lichen. Yost had previously heard about the existence of the hallucinogenic plant, but it was so rare that he never believed he would actually encounter it, despite having searched for it for seven years. In a paper written in 1983 detailing their discovery, the enthobotanists wrote:

In the spring of 1981, whilst we were engaged in ethnobotanical studies in eastern Ecuador, our attention was drawn to a most peculiar use of hallucinogens by the Waorani, a small isolated group of some 600 Indians. … Amongst most Amazonian tribes, hallucinogenic intoxication is considered to be a collective journey into the subconscious and, as such, is a quintessentially social event. The Waorani, however, consider the use of hallucinogens to be an aggressive anti-social act; so the shaman, or ido, who desires to project a curse takes the drug alone or accompanied only by his wife at night in the secrecy of the forest or in an isolated house.

The lichen was so elusive that even the Waorani people did not possess it. Referring to it as nɇnɇndapɇ, they told the botanists that, while their shamans had once used it, they had not done so in “four generations — approximately eighty years – when ‘bad shaman ate it to send a curse to cause other Waorani to die.’

The lichen’s rarity and importance to the tribe encouraged the two to intensify their search efforts, and, almost miraculously, they were soon successful, making them the first Westerners to see the elusive nɇnɇndapɇ. They then proceeded to preserve the unusually unique specimen for future analysis.

What Did the Research Reveal?

Three decades later, the DNA of the lichen was finally analyzed, proving that it was indeed a new species. In 2014, a team of researchers led by Michaela Schmull studied the lichen — also now known as Dictyonema huaorani — and used a technique called liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) to determine which chemical compounds existed in its tissues. The tests were positive to the presence of psilocybin, tryptamine, 5-meO-DMT, 5-MeOP (5-methoxytryptamine), 5-MEO-NMT and 5-MT.

This composition of chemicals makes this lichen a very interesting and unique specimen indeed. It is the only known species to exist with this specific grouping of substances. Researchers concluded that:

“Due to our inability to use pure reference compounds and scarce amount of sample for compound identification, however, our analyses were not able to determine conclusively the presence of hallucinogenic substances.”

Perhaps in the future when more resources are allocated to the research and funding of such psychedelic substances, we will be able to learn more about their potential health benefits. More and more research is revealing the healing properties of psychedelic substances including marijuana, psilocybin, MDMA, ayahuasca, and LSD. Yet because these substances are generally considered class 1 scheduled drugs (having no therapeutic value), studying them properly is difficult — even though they have shown promising results for treating cancer, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, addiction, anxiety, and more.
