Biden’s Limited Accessibility to the Media Comes into Focus as Correspondents’ Dinner Nears

Nicholas Ballasy
April 27, 2022

As President Biden prepares to take the stage at the White House Correspondents Dinner on Saturday, his limited accessibility to the media has come into focus.

In his first year, Biden held half as many news conferences as former President Trump, according to the American Presidency Project at the University of California. Trump also frequently spoke with the press impromptu before entering Marine One, something Biden does not do as often. Biden has held two solo news conferences so far this year, one in Washington and the other in Brussels.

Brian Stelter, host of CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” interviewed Steven Portnoy, president of the White House Correspondents Association, about this year’s White House Correspondents Dinner and mentioned that Biden isn’t always as accessible to the press compared to his predecessor.

“The mission of the association continues to be to advocate for reporters to be able to have those interactions with the president on behalf of the public, readers, viewers, listeners,” said Portnoy, who leads the organization hosting the event.

Portnoy also said his remarks at the dinner will be “deadly serious,” given the number of journalists killed while covering the war in Ukraine.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky and Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba have said they would like to see Biden come to Ukraine to see the dire situation up close. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken visited Ukraine and met Zelensky over the weekend. Biden hasn’t announced plans to meet in-person with Zelensky.

Amid the calls for Biden to visit Ukraine during the Russian invasion, the president recently announced that he is participating in the White House Correspondents Dinner after 4 years of former President Donald Trump skipping the gathering.

Biden is set to deliver a comedy routine rather than a formal speech, similar to the performances of past presidents at the infamous dinner. Trevor Noah, host of The Daily Show, is the dinner’s featured entertainer.

The main purpose of the gathering is to award scholarships to aspiring journalists and recognize the achievements of the working press covering the White House. Networks reserve tables for the dinner and often invite celebrities as guests. For example, reality TV star Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend, comedian Pete Davidson of Saturday Night Live, are expected to attend this year’s dinner.

The event is estimated to draw about 2,600 people. The most recent comparable large-scale high-profile gathering in Washington was the Gridiron Dinner, which led to over 70 COVID positive cases, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Attorney General Merrick Garland.

Former Surgeon General Jerome Adams encouraged the Washington establishment to learn from the results of the “superspreader” Gridiron Dinner, arguing that “mass gatherings that lead to mass infections cannot become our ‘new normal.'”

COVID cases are rising in the Washington Metropolitan area driven by the spread of the BA.2 variant.

Organizers of the Correspondents’ Dinner are requiring a same-day negative COVID test to attend, according to Portnoy. Currently, Biden and other cabinet officials are often seen wearing masks even though indoor mask mandates have been lifted in the Washington D.C. area. The White House Correspondents Association hasn’t said if they are going to require dinner attendees to wear masks indoors at the event.

Mitch McConnell Voted Most Unpopular Senator: Poll

Madeleine Hubbard
April 25, 2022

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., is America’s most unpopular senator, according to a Morning Consult poll released Monday.

Just one-third of Kentuckians, 33%, approve of McConnell’s job performance, while 60% disapprove.

The most popular U.S. senator is South Dakota Republican Sen. John Thune, who has a 62% approval rating with a 28% disapproval rating, the poll showed.

Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., showed the largest approval increase, despite facing harsh criticism from fellow Democrats over his moderate views.

In the first quarter of 2021, just 40% of West Virginia voters approved of Manchin. One year later, 57% approved of his performance, including 69% of Republicans.

Schiff: ‘Compelling Evidence’ Trump, Others Engaged in ‘Criminal Activity to Obstruct Congress’

Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA) said Monday on MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show” that he believes the evidence obtained by the House select committee investigating the U.S. Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, shows former President Donald Trump and “others” engaged in criminal activity to obstruct Congress.

Maddow said, “Do you feel like what we have learned thus far might suggest criminal behavior by members of Congress? I’m thinking specifically about these revelations today in this reporting from CNN that would indicate, in the words of one Republican member of Congress, Marjorie Taylor Greene, that multiple members of Congress believed that Trump should declare martial law just ahead of the inauguration in order to stay in power.”

She asked, “Is their indication, to your mind, in terms of the evidence you have seen, that members of Congress should be facing criminal charges for their involvement?”

Schiff said, “I haven’t reached a conclusion on that point, but I do agree certainly with the judge in California, Judge Carter, that there is compelling evidence that the president of the United States and others engaged with very possible criminal activity to obstruct Congress, to defraud the United States, to engage in conspiracy. I think that there is significant evidence of corrupt intent. Some of the revelations you mentioned go to the fact that White House counsel was telling some of these players like Mark Meadows that this is illegal, this violates the law. ”

He added, “We continue to put the facts together and learn new information every day.”

Tulsi Gabbard to Take Legal Action Against Mitt Romney and Keith Olbermann

Jim Hoft
April 20, 2022

In March Mitt Romney lashed out at former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard for speaking out against the US-funded biolabs in Ukraine.

Gabbard was right. There were US-funded biolabs operating in Ukraine prior to the Russian invasion.

Now Tulsi Gabbard is fighting back.

(You gotta love the dog on the roof reminder!)

Gabbard told Tucker Carlson on Wednesday night that she is sending Mitt Romney a cease and desist letter for his attacks on her character.

Pollster: Biden’s Approval Rating Could Potentially Drop Into The 20s Before The Midterms

Mike LaChance
April 16, 2022

Joe Biden’s approval numbers have evaporated in the course of just a year.

Yet as low as he is in the polls now, he could still drop lower.

If inflation keeps rising and the situation at the border continues to worsen, so will Biden’s polls.

Byron York of the Washington Examiner spoke to some seasoned pollsters and they offered no good news for Biden.

From the Washington Examiner:

I asked three sharp Republican pollsters and political consultants: David Winston, Curt Anderson, and Dave Carney. The takeaway from all three is that it appears the majority coalition that elected Biden has fallen apart. And that is terrible news for both the president and his party.

“While there are a lot of groups that have become more disapproving of Biden’s job performance, Independents are at a remarkable level of disapproval,” Winston said in an email exchange. “In The Economist/YouGov survey (April 9-12), Independents disapproved by a 30-60 margin; the Politico/Morning Consult survey (April 8-11) was a similar 30-62; and the Quinnipiac survey (April 7-011) was 26-56. So among a group Biden won by 13 points in 2020, after Clinton lost them by four in 2016, his disapproval is 30 points or more higher than his approval. This means the majority coalition that elected him is now not in place. Regaining it will be difficult, given his current poor job approval performances on the economy and other issues.”

Carney and Anderson had different thoughts on whether Biden has hit the bottom, or nearly so, or can plunge further. “There is no limit or floor to a president’s approval rating, but historically, Nixon’s 24 percent in January 1974 seems like the practical floor for a modern-day president,” Carney said in another email exchange. “Biden has the potential to sink into the high 20s before the midterm elections, considering inflation will be raging by then.

If Biden leads his party into the midterms with an approval rating in the 20s, there’s no telling how bad the outcome could be for Democrats.

In terms of modern political analysis, we would be in uncharted waters.

Jim Jordan On Hunter Biden Texts: Joe Biden ‘Did Have Something To Do With It’

Martin Walsh
April 12, 2022

OPINION: This article may contain commentary which reflects the author’s opinion.

Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan is sounding the alarm over new Hunter Biden text messages and what they might mean for President Joe Biden.

During an appearance on “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday, the Ohio Republican believes Biden was involved with his son Hunter Biden’s business dealings that are under federal investigation.

Text messages from Hunter’s computer left at a Wilmington repair shop reveal alleged complaints that he was using up to half of his salary to cover his father’s bills and other expenses, according to one statement he made to his daughter Naomi.

Below is a transcript of the exchange on Fox News:

JORDAN: “And maybe the worst of it all was what 51 former intelligence officials did. That — that letter they wrote where they said, this has all the earmarks of a Russian disinformation campaign, that letter became the basis for Big Tech and big media to suppress this story and keep it from we, the people, in the run-up to our most important election. That’s why we sent a letter to these 51 guys. We want to know who they were talking to, how they came to this conclusion, how hay put that letter together because that was the basis for the conspiracy that kept information from the voters right up before the presidential election.”

BARTIROMO: “Yeah, we’re showing your letter on screen right now, and we also have the ‘New York Post’ headline ‘Spies Who LKe,’ with the faces of all of those. Right front and center are John Brennan and James Clapper on the cover of the ‘New York Post’ there, who lied and said that it was Russian disinformation. Let’s just be clear, Jim Jordan, these guys were key officials in the CIA and the other intelligence agencies. They would have known that this was not Russian disinformation when they signed their name, correct?”

JORDAN: “Maria, this is — great point. This is what makes this so wrong and so bad. This is no different than when Adam Schiff three years ago came forward and said, ‘Oh, there is more than circumstantial evidence that President Trump colluded with Russia.’ We didn’t think that statement was accurate at the time, but when the chairman of the Intelligence Committee goes on TV and makes that statement, he gets briefings that the American people don’t get. Frankly, he gets briefings that even I, as a member of Congress, don’t get. So when he says something like that, there’s added weight, the added emphasis put on that. Same thing with these 51 former intelligence officials. When they come out with a statement like this, you’re thinking, ‘Wow, these are guys who were supposed to be in the know, they were in the know when they were in the government,’ so there’s added weight to that. But when they mislead us, that makes it all the more wrong. That’s why we’ve got to get to the bottom of this because it’s happened more than once now and this is not supposed to be that way in our great country.”

During an interview on Sunday, Jordan told Bartiromo that it “sure seems” as though Hunter Biden is going to be indicted by federal officials though he said he could not say for certain.

“You mentioned those two stories from the Washington Post 10 days ago,” the Ohio Republican told host Maria Bartiromo on Fox News. “I understand they were four minutes apart. One was at 11:00. One was at 11:04. So two eight-page-long stories four minutes apart from the news organization that said 18 months ago there was no story here, this was Russian disinformation.”

That tells you something is up. You don’t see the Washington Post do that,” he added.

“Remember, it started off as, ‘Oh, it wasn’t his laptop.’ Then it was, ‘Well, it was his laptop, but it was Russian disinformation.’ Now it’s, ‘No, it wasn’t Russian disinformation, but Joe had nothing to do with it,’” Jordan said.

“And now, finally, it is, ‘Well, Joe had something to do with it, but he really didn’t do anything wrong.’ In fact, that’s what his chief of staff, Ron Klain, told us last Sunday on the Sunday shows,” he added.

“So, my, how this story has changed. And now, we find out these text messages and emails that link the entire family, not just Hunter and Joe and — but also uncle, the — Joe’s brother, James Biden, is involved in this as well.”

It sure looks like Joe Biden was involved,” Jordan told Bartiromo.

New Polls Signal Major Problems For Democrats Ahead Of 2022 Midterm Elections

Ryan Saavedra
Apr 10, 2022

New polling released over the last few days shows that Democrat President Joe Biden and his party are in serious trouble as this November’s 2022 midterm elections near.

A CBS News poll found that nearly two thirds of Americans said that the “national economy” was “bad,” which they blame on skyrocketing inflation rates and gas prices:

Higher prices are leading people to say they’re making cutbacks, especially on more discretionary items like entertainment and travel. (That may, of course, have a wider impact on the economy later.) About half are cutting back on food and groceries, and this is especially the case among those with lower incomes. … Biden gets his lowest approval ratings on the economy and inflation. And on gas prices specifically, most think he could be doing more to lower them. Nearly all Republicans share this view. They believe his policies are doing “a lot” to contribute to higher gas prices.

The poll found that the top issues for voters were the economy, inflation, and crime, and that Biden gets “low marks on handling them” with more than 60% of Americans disapproving of the way that Biden has handled all three issues.

NBC polling analyst Steve Kornacki went over polling on Sunday that the network previously conducted showing that college educated men went from being +16 for the Democrats in the last midterm election to now being +10 for the Republicans, a 26-point shift.

Politico reported over the weekend that leading experts have indicated that “angry voters slammed by higher prices and scarred by two years of fighting the pandemic are poised to punish Democrats in midterm elections” and that “with inflation persisting and Russia’s war on Ukraine stoking uncertainty, there are indications that public sentiment is getting worse, not better.”

The report added:

The widely watched University of Michigan consumer confidence survey recently touched its lowest level in almost 11 years. An Associated Press/NORC survey showed that almost 70 percent of Americans think the economy is in poor shape, and 81 percent of those in a poll released by CNBC see a recession coming this year. Gallup found the share of Americans citing inflation as the top issue is now at its highest level since the 1980s.

“The big run-up in gas and food and home prices has really caused great hardship for many households,” said Richard Curtin, a veteran economist who has run the University of Michigan consumer survey since 1976. “And the Biden administration made a critical error in saying it would be transient and people should just tough it out. It wasn’t transient. A lot of people couldn’t just tough it out. And it caused a big loss of confidence in [President Joe Biden’s] policies.”

Mark Zandi, the chief economist at Moody’s Analytics, said, “Most Americans have never experienced high inflation like this, particularly on gas prices, and it has gotten everyone very upset. Behavioral economics reveals that people hate inflation more than they love a low unemployment rate. And the pandemic still colors everything. People have been through the wringer.”

REPORT: George Soros Is Funding Over A Dozen Democrats Running In 2022

Mike LaChance
April 9, 2022

The far-left billionaire George Soros is reportedly funding multiple Democrat candidates who are running for office this year.

This is especially important for voters to be aware of this year.

In recent elections, multiple district attorneys were elected with help from Soros and it has had an awful effect on crime and law enforcement in the country.

Breitbart News reports:

Report: George Soros Funds 13 Radical Democrats Running for Congress in 2022

Billionaire Democrat megadonor George Soros and his daughter are reportedly funding 13 radical Democrats running for Congress in 2022.

Soros and his daughter, Andrea Soros Colombel, are funding candidates that are in favor of defunding the police, such as Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO), according to Fox News.

Some Democrats have attempted to distance themselves from defunding police, but radical Democrats backed by Soros continue to push the Democrat issue.

“We should all agree the answer is not to defund the police; it’s to fund the police,” President Biden controversially stated during the State of the Union…

The following are some of the 13 candidates funded by Soros through a joint fundraising venture called Lead the Way 2022, including the Way to Lead PAC, according to Fox News:

– Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) – $40,000
– Candidate Rana Abdelhamid (New York’s 12th) – $28,000
– Candidate Kina Collins (Illinois’s 7th) – $28,000
– Candidate Odessa Kelly (Tennessee’s 7th) – $41,000
– Candidate Aramis Ayala (Florida’s 10th) – $1.4 million

The money represents a small amount of the funding Soros has dedicated toward the 2022 midterms.

Soros has reportedly fueled Democrats with $125 million through a super PAC heading into the November midterms.

Any candidate associated with Soros should be automatically rejected. Instantly.

Candidates associated with him are part of the major problems we’re having as a country right now.

Obama White House Doctor: Biden Having ‘Cognitive Issues’ Is A ‘National Security Issue’

Martin Walsh
April 7th, 2022

OPINION: This article may contain commentary which reflects the author’s opinion.

Texas GOP Rep. Ronny Jackson, who previously served as the White House physician under the Obama and Trump administrations, says he has concerns about President Joe Biden.

During an interview on OAN with host John Hines, Jackson slammed Biden when asked about his mental fitness for office.

“I’m not trying to make a diagnosis,” Jackson said. “But I think the whole world sees that he’s having some issues. He’s struggling cognitively. It’s not a good time to have a commander-in-chief and a head of state that’s having these particular issues. I think there’s something going on … it’s a national security issue at this particular point.”

When asked if there were “national security implications” involved, Jackson responded, “Well sure, look at what’s going on … In that position, if you have cognitive issues, it’s going to be a national security issue regardless.”

Jackson said Biden’s mental fitness for office was “dangerous” and that the president needed to be under cognitive testing “immediately.”

During an interview last month, Jackson spoke about Russia invading Ukraine and the implications it can have on the world.

Jackson said Biden needs to undergo an immediate cognitive exam because he is “not fit to be our president right now.”

“The whole country is seeing his mental cognitive issues on display for over a year now, and there’s really no question in most people’s minds that there’s something going on with him, that he’s not cognitively the same as he used to be and, in my mind, not fit to be our president right now,” Jackson said during an interview.

“Every time he gets up and talks to the American people, it’s not just the American people that are watching him speak, it’s the whole world, and that’s part of what the problem is here,” Jackson also said. “He looks tired, he looks weak, he looks confused, he’s incoherent, and it sends a message of weakness all over the world, and they’re seizing up on that,” he added.

“He’s got 40 years of tape, you can go back and look at this man, so it’s not like we don’t have anything to compare it to,” Jackson said. “You can go back and look, he’s always made gaffes, he’s always made missteps, but never like this. This is something different. These aren’t gaffes…. This is something much more serious.”

Jackson said that Biden’s mental fitness for office, or a lack thereof, “was on full display during the debacle in Afghanistan” and that it could “get more Americans killed” and “ultimately get us in a war because of his lack of leadership.”

Chris Wallace Gets OWNED By Maria Bartiromo for Covering Up Biden Family Crimes During 2020 Presidential Debate [Video]

Moderator Chris Wallace Worked Hard to Prevent President Trump’s Attempts to Bring Up Hunter Biden’s Crimes During the 2020 Presidential Debate

Sunday morning Maria Bartiromo tore into the media, including former colleague Chris Wallace, for their coverup of the Hunter Biden laptop story. She used a clip of Chris Wallace trying his hardest during the 2020 Presidential Debate to prevent President Trump from bringing to light Hunter Biden’s illicit payments from Moscow.

The relevant part of the debate’s transcript can be found below:

From the Gateway Pundit:

President Trump: So why was he given tens of millions of dollars.

Joe Biden: He wasn’t given tens of millions of dollars. That’s totally, that’s totally been discredited.

Chris Wallace: President Trump, we’ve already been through this. I think the American people would rather hear about more substantial subjects…

President Trump: (interrupts)

Chris Wallace: Well, you know as the moderator, sir, I’m going to make a call here.

President Trump: Three and a half million dollars from the mayor of Moscow…

Joe Biden: That is not true.

President Trump: Why did he get it?

Wallace injected his leftist beliefs repeatedly throughout the debate, culminating in a shouting match with President Trump as he desperately tried to prevent all mention of Hunter Biden’s criminal behavior. That Wallace was even selected for the moderator position is an affront to fairness, but of course Democrats never play fair.

Maria Bartiromo tears into  not only Wallace but the media as a whole for covering up the laptop initially and for refusing to acknowledge the possibility that Hunter Biden’s crimes are linked to his father.

Bartiromo raises the question: How could Biden be tough on countries which own his son? Simple. He Can’t.

The video can be seen here:

Do you agree with Maria about Chris Wallace?
