Dr. Fauci Will Be Put Under Investigation, Jordan Says If GOP Wins House in November

Republicans will launch an investigation into Dr. Anthony Fauci if they win back control of the U.S. House in November’s midterm elections, says Ohio GOP Rep. Jim Jordan.

During an interview on Sunday Morning Futures, Jordan said Republicans will “uncover” what Fauci knew about the origins of the coronavirus pandemic.

Republican Kansas Sen. Roger Marshall, an ally to Jordan, released Fauci’s financial records over the weekend. The records appear to show that Fauci and his wife have a combined net worth of around $10 million.

Records also showed that Fauci and his wife were paid tens of thousands of dollars to attend four galas and ceremonies — three of them virtual — during the pandemic.

Jordan argued that these revelations and recently released emails prove there’s a “need to investigate Fauci.”

“If the American people put us back in charge, we are definitely going to do this,” Jordan said, adding that his colleagues would push for a congressional investigation into the origins of the coronavirus.

“Because we now know without a doubt that Dr. Fauci knew on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 that this thing came from a lab,” Jordan argued. “The top scientists in the country were saying it came from a lab. One scientist says we got the notes now from the conference call on February 1st. One scientist says, ‘I don’t see how this can happen in nature, but it would be easy to do in a lab.’”

“And yet just in a matter of days, they changed their position, write the article that appears in Nature of Medicine Magazine, which then gets cited in the now-famous letter The Lancet, which became the gospel for the fact that Fauci can go out and tell people it didn’t come from a lab when in fact they knew it did,” Jordan continued.

“The interesting thing is. We point this out. We just learned this last week, the two doctors who were most adamant that this thing came from a lab early on: one is Dr. Kristian Anderson. On Jan. 31, 2020, he says this to Dr. Fauci in an email: ‘Virus looks engineered. Virus not consistent with evolutionary theory.’ So, he knew it came from a lab,” he added.

“They changed their position,” Jordan argued. “And a few months later, guess what? They get an $8.9 million, both him and Dr. [Robert] Garry – the guy who said it couldn’t happen naturally.”

Jordan’s comments came after

Republican leaders on the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees have released excerpts of emails that they say reveal National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease Director Dr. Anthony Fauci knew that COVID-19 may have been intentionally modified and leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

In a letter, GOP Reps. James Comer and Jim Jordan noted a Feb. 1, 2020, conference call that included Fauci and former National Institutes of Health Director Francis Collins, where the virus’ origins were discussed.

“It was on this conference call that Drs. Fauci and Collins were first warned that COVID-19 may have leaked from the WIV and, further, may have been intentionally genetically manipulated,” the Republicans’ letter said.

The congressmen said that “it is unclear if either Dr. Fauci or Dr. Collins ever passed these warnings along to other government officials or if they simply ignored them.”

The letter said other scientists participated in the call, four of whom wrote a paper titled, “The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2” that they sent to Fauci and Collins three days after the call.

Republicans are questioning whether Fauci and/or Collins played a role in the “lab leak” theory being dropped.

“It is unclear what, if any, new evidence was presented or if the underlying science changed in that short period of time, but after speaking with Drs. Fauci and Collins, the authors abandoned their belief COVID-19 was the result of a laboratory leak,” Comer and Jordan said, adding that they do not know whether Fauci or Collins edited the paper before it was published in Nature Medicine.

One email that detailed the meeting in question came from Dr. Jeremy Farrar to Collins, where Fauci and current NIH Acting Director Lawrence Tabak stated that “a likely explanation” could involve “accidentally creating a virus that would be primed for rapid transmission between humans[.]”

Discussing the similarities to a bat coronavirus and the very specific differences, Farrar said he “just can’t figure out how this gets accomplished in nature.”

In response, however, Collins wrote that he was “coming around to the view that a natural origin is more likely.”

In April, just a few months later, Collins, Fauci, Tabak, and others were emailing about a “very destructive conspiracy” detailing the lab leak theory.

“I hoped the Nature Medicine article on the genomic sequence of SARS-CoV-2 would settle this. But probably didn’t get much visibility,” Collins said.

“I would not do anything about this right now. It is a shiny object that will go away in time,” Fauci wrote back.

Comer and Jordan are asking HHS for information about whether Collins or Fauci warned the White House about the “lab leak theory” between Feb. 1 and Feb. 4, 2020.

“Time for answers,” the House Oversight Committee Republicans tweeted.

Jan. 6 Committee Subpoenas Tech Giants Alphabet, Meta, Reddit, Twitter

The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol issued subpoenas Thursday to four social media giants – Alphabet, Meta, Reddit and Twitter – to learn about the companies’ roles in the 2020 election as well as in “domestic violent extremism” and “the spread of misinformation.”

Congressional concerns over the spread of misinformation have focused on the social media companies for years. Alphabet is the parent company of Google and Youtube, while Meta is the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

This is the second Jan. 6 committee request for information from Google, Reddit, Facebook and Twitter. The panel said the companies offered “inadequate responses” to its August 2021 request.

“Two key questions for the Select Committee are how the spread of misinformation and violent extremism contributed to the violent attack on our democracy, and what steps—if any—social media companies took to prevent their platforms from being breeding grounds for radicalizing people to violence,” Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) stated.

“It’s disappointing that after months of engagement, we still do not have the documents and information necessary to answer those basic questions,” Thompson said. “The Select Committee is working to get answers for the American people and help ensure nothing like January 6th ever happens again.”

“We cannot allow our important work to be delayed any further,” Thompson added. Midterms are this fall and if the Democrats lose the House majority, the committee likely will be disbanded, so time is running out for the investigation.

The Alphabet subpoena focuses on the company’s subsidiary video platform YouTube. The committee says it “significant communications” took place on Youtube “that were relevant to the planning and execution” of Jan. 6, and livestream videos of the riot were posted on the website.

The committee stated that Meta platforms, notably Facebook, “were reportedly used to share messages of hatred, violence, and incitement; to spread misinformation, disinformation, and conspiracy theories around the election; and to coordinate or attempt to coordinate the Stop the Steal movement.”

The Reddit subpoena states that the ‘subreddit’ group “r/The_Donald” grew on the platform before moving in 2020 to TheDonald.win website, “which ultimately hosted significant discussion and planning related to the January 6th attack.” The website, also known as America.win, is no longer updating.

“I have been contacted by the US Government concerning the January 6th Mostly Peaceful Protests that have been mischaracterized by the Select Committee, Resident Biden, members of the news media, and Democrats in Congress. Because of their continued political persecution of many still being held without bond on what are typically minor charges, I have no desire to speak with any of them,” America.win’s webmaster wrote, explaining that the site will be shutdown for the foreseeable future.

The final subpoena to Twitter alleges that users planned and executed Jan. 6 on the platform. The committee notes that former President Donald Trump and other Twitter users “engaged in communications amplifying allegations of election fraud.” The social media platform was reportedly warned that it was being used to plan potential violence on Jan. 6.

Mccarthy Says If Republicans Win Back the House Swalwell, Omar, Schiff Will Lose Committee Seats

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy says he plans to take away committee assignments from at least three Democrats should Republicans win control of the chamber in November.

“The Democrats have created a new thing where they’re picking and choosing who can be on committees,” he said in an interview with Breitbart.com published Monday,

The California Republican also said: “Never in the history [of Congress] have you had the majority tell the minority who can be on a committee.”

House Democrats have stripped GOP Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene. of Georgia, and Paul Gosar, of Arizona, of their committee assignments in the roughly the past year. Among other issues facing the House GOP leader, McCarthy has been criticized for not doing enough to protect the members of his caucus.

Given the new standard, McCarthy discussed how he will play the game, if Republican retake the chamber in the upcoming midterm election.

“If Eric Swalwell cannot get a security clearance in the private sector, there is no reason why he should be given one to be on Intel or Homeland Security. He will not be serving there,” he said, referring to the House’s Intelligence and Homeland Security committees.

In late 2020, it was revealed that Swalwell, a Democrat congressmen from California, became worryingly close with an alleged agent of the Chinese Communist Party, including likely engaging in a romantic tryst with her, that U.S. investigators stepped in to provide the member with a briefing of security situation.

McCarthy continued listing Democrats he would bump from committees including Reps. Illhan Omar, of Minnesota, and Adam Schiff, of California.

“Ilhan Omar should not be serving on Foreign Affairs. … You look at Adam Schiff. He should not be serving on Intel when he has openly, knowingly now used a fake dossier, lied to the American public in the process and doesn’t have any ill will [and] says he wants to continue to do it.”

Democrat Senator Ossoff Takes On Pelosi With Possible New Legislation On Stocks

One Democrat senator, the youngest in the Senate, has come against House Speaker and California Rep. Nancy Pelosi on her recent comments about stock trading.

Democrat Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff wants to ban members of Congress from being able to trade stocks when they are in their elected positions, The New York Post reported.

The Ossoff ethics bill, which the Democratic freshman Senator plans to introduce once he finds a Republican co-sponsor, would crack down on conflicts of interest by making it illegal for lawmakers and their families to trade stocks while in office, a Washington, D.C. source close to the situation said.

It would also likely require lawmakers put their assets in blind trusts — a step that the 34-year-old Ossoff completed himself months after being elected in January 2021.

No Senate Republicans appear to have publicly come out against congressional stock trades, so Ossoff may have trouble finding a co-sponsor in the Senate. But Republican support in the House is more likely, since several GOP House members including Texas Reps. Michael Cloud and Chip Roy have come out against the practice.

Another proposal to curb Congress trades, the Ban Conflicted Trading Act, was introduced in the Senate in March by four Democratic Senators including Sen. Jeff Merkeley of Oregon and Ossoff’s fellow Georgia freshman Raphael Warnock. It also has an accompanying bipartisan House version backed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Roy, among other Democrats and Republicans.

But that legislation would only ban members of Congress and their staff from trading, which means that the husband of the House Speaker would be allowed to continue to trade stocks.

“As Speaker Pelosi’s recent transactions make clear, decisions made for the people should be separate than decisions made for personal enrichment,” Republican Rep. Chip Roy said.

“These lawmakers are just out of touch with how normal people view the situation,” Arizona Republican Senate primary candidate Blake Masters said. “Members of Congress should not be buying call options on Big Tech companies they’re in charge of regulating, that is ludicrous.”

The New York Post said that the Pelosi family has made a fortune on stocks.

And the Pelosis’ overall portfolio — which has also included companies like Disney and Roblox — beat the S&P 500 by 4.9 percent in 2019 and a whopping 14.3 percent in 2020, according to data crunched for The Post by FinePrint, an outfit pushing for greater transparency of financial holdings on both sides of the aisle.

The Pelosis’ exposure to tech stocks, however, may have actually hurt them in 2021, when their portfolio underperformed the S&P 500 by 15.5 percent, according to FinePrint.

When asked whether the opportunity to profit on trades could create a conflict of interest, the speaker has flatly said “no” and has rejected the idea of a ban on trading individual stocks. Pelosi spokesman Drew Hammill did not dispute The Post’s findings that Paul Pelosi has generally outperformed the market but insisted that the trades are not an issue.

“The Speaker does not own any stocks,” her spokesman said. “As you can see from the required disclosures, with which the Speaker fully cooperates, these transactions are marked ‘SP’ for Spouse. The Speaker has no prior knowledge or subsequent involvement in any transactions.”

Walter Shaub, who was the director of the United States Office of Government Ethics for former Presidents Obama and Donald Trump, said that her defense is “absolutely insulting.”

“The idea that the stocks are in her husband’s name is a complete red herring,” he said. “Unless members of Congress are willing to wear microphones around the clock when they’re having dinner with their spouses and going to bed, the public has no way of knowing what information they intentionally or inadvertently shared.”

“We should be held to a higher standard,” Republican Rep. Michael Cloud said. “When the public sees people in office profiting off [stock trading] when they’re struggling, it does a great disservice to everything that this nation should be about.”
